Welcome to the Web Site of the Missouri State Public
Defender System. We hope you find the information contained here, as
well as the links to other sites, useful and interesting.
From 36 Trial Division offices located throughout the state, our attorneys represent people who are accused of a state crime and cannot afford a private lawyer.
Our Appellate/Post-Conviction Division, with offices in Kansas City, Columbia, and St. Louis, provides appellate representation in the Missouri Courts of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Missouri. They also provide post-conviction representation in every Missouri jurisdiction.
Finally, our Capital Division, also with offices in Kansas City, Columbia, and St. Louis, represents indigent persons facing the ultimate penalty, death.
Our dedicated lawyers, support staff, and administrative staff ensure that an indigent person with life or liberty at stake receives a high-quality, competent, ardent defense team. Together, the lawyers and staff provide high-quality, zealous criminal defense in nearly 90,000 cases each year, in every Missouri jurisdiction.
