Panel Attorney Opportunities

The Missouri State Public Defender (MSPD) is accepting applications for panel attorneys for contract appointments in criminal cases. Panel attorneys will serve as independent contractors assisting the state public defender in representing clients of the public defender system. Panel attorneys will be able to maintain their current law practices.

Every attorney who wishes to become a panel attorney must complete the Panel Attorney Application (see the links below) to be considered for appointment. This requirement also applies to those who are currently on our list of contract attorneys.

Every panel attorney will be to required execute a standard Panel Attorney Memorandum of Agreement (see the links below) setting forth the terms and expectations for serving as a panel attorney. Each panel attorney will identify the judicial circuits where he or she will be placed on a rotational roster panel for appointment to cases the attorney is qualified to handle within that circuit. For more information on Missouri judicial circuits, go to the Missouri Courts website.

If you are interested in being a Panel Attorney and receiving contract cases from MSPD, please complete the Panel Attorney Application found at the link below. Correspondence via email is preferred.
